You have found an apartment you like and are willing to spend in this lovely place. Hold on! Before signing the lease with the owner, some the Inspection is necessary and could save a lot of problems. If you have already signed the lease, it is always useful to carefully inspect the apartment if not done yet. If you discover a problem, you should let the owner and get the problems corrected.
Here is a checklist for inspection of apartments.
1. Check the entrance: the door seal you do it right? Does the lock work?
2. Check the floors: a stain or something on the wood floor? The carpets are clean?
3. Check ceilings and walls: Any dents, cracks or holes? The wallpaper in good condition? The painting on the wall in good condition?
4. Control power and lights: All lights working? Electrical outlets functioning? Air conditioning works well? Ceiling fan working well? Phone Jack in every room? Is there a connection to the TV?
5. Check the kitchen leaks taps? Good water pressure? All devices working and cleaned? Refrigerator looking good and not make too much noise? Dishwasher working fine? Gas / electrical works OK? Microwave operation?
6. Check the bathroom: Faucets leaking? Hot water from the shower? Labor beautiful dress?
What water pressure OK?
7. Safeguards: Windows in good condition and safe? Intercom work? Door locks work? Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide in their operation? The dangers of lead?
If you experience problems with housing, write them down and show the landlord (keep a copy for yourself). Make sure that the problems are resolved before moving
